FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An intense anti-cyclone centred near the Chatham Islands is moving slowly north-eastwards. Forecast: Canterbury and the Kaikoura coast.—Moderate north-easterly winds predominating: scattered showers developing about the western high country; fine elsewhere; little change in temperature. Marlborough and Nelson.—Light to moderate northerly winds; cloudy near the ranges with isolated showers; fine elsewhere; moderate or mild day temperatures. Buller.—Moderate north-easterly winds; cloudy with showers in the ranges and a few light showers elsewhere; moderate temperatures. Westland.—Moderate north-easterly winds; overcast with occasional light rain; moderate temperatures. Outlook.—West Coast: some rain; elsewhere fair.
