Although no official figures were available from the New Zealand Rugby Union last evening, it is unofficially estimated that the British Lions tour grossed about £400,000 —a record for teams touring New Zealand. Total paid attendances for Lions' games throughout New Zealand were unofficially estimated to be well over 700,000.
Gate takings at Eden Park on Saturday were £43,000. This was £2750 more than the previous record gate takings in New Zealand, at the final Springbok test in Auckland last year. The net profit for the New Zealand Rugby Union from the Lions tour was estimated to be £lOO,OOO, also a record. Total gate takings for the Springbok tour last year were £360,000 and for the Lions tour in 1959, £318,650.
