DRAYTON TOP SCORER
I. T. Drayton, the Hornby full-back, retained his position as leading scorer in Canterbury Rugby League for the third successive season.
With one match remaining the Thacker Shield challenge against Greymouth Marist, Drayton's total is 215. In the last four seasons Drayton has scored 678 points. He scored 157 points in club matches and 58 for Canterbury. J. C. P. Hawthorne (Papanui) finished second with 150, only one point ahead of J. E. Bond (Kaiapoi), who kicked the most goals (73) in club matches.
Two other players, A. Tuuta (Sydenham, 101) and G. J. Rosanowski
(Linwood, 100), also scored centuries and were followed by W. Morrison (Christchurch, 80), J. K. Keremeta (Mar--Ist, 69) and the Addington pair, P. M. V. White (67) and J. Vivian (50). The top try-scorer was the Linwood wing, M. Morgan, who had four hat-tricks in his total of 16. Six players, S. Dunn (Papanui), P. J. Tongue (Hornby), D. McCosh (Addington), T. Wastney (Hornby), J. Williams (Christchurch) and M. J. Napier (Papanui) scored 11. On 10 were A. N. Amer (Papanui), C. C. Worters (Marist), R. O. Moffat (Hornby), B. F. Dobbs (Marist), M. J. Worters (Addington) and G. J. Abercrombie (Linwood).
