BOUND FOR N.Z.

AUSTRALIAN-BUILT hay balers in crates were recently loaded at the Adelaide docks for shipment to Christchurch. John Deere Australia Pty., Ltd., says that it is the first export of their Australianbuilt hay baler. Last year John Deere introduced to the Australian market the 24T baler manufactured under licence by David Shearer Pty., Ltd., of Mannum, South Australia. The destination of the first shipment of balers is Christchurch. The distribu-

tors will be Gough, Gough and Hamer, Ltd., who have handled John Deere tractors and implements for many years.

In 1956 the Deere Company, of the United States, moved for the first time outside the United States and Canada with the purchase of a major interest in the old West German firm of Heinrick Lanz. A.G. In the last 10 years the company has built or acquired manufacturing operations in France, Spain, Mexico, the Argentine, Australia and South Africa.
