Christchurch. 2852 RADIOCHEMIST WELLINGTON HOSPITAL BOARD Applications are Invited for the position of Radiochemist at Wellington Hospital from Radiochemists or persons with sufficient background to be trained for the position. The qualification of Bachelor of Science or higher is required The appointee will be required to take over the chemical and biochemical work done with radioisotones and will be expected to work with medical staff tn the application of existing methods and to initiate new techniques. The staff particularly concerned will be In the Radiotherapy Department, the Metabolic Uni tand the Biochemistry Department. Other specialist departments win also be contributing. The principal duties will be in connection with the Radiotherapy Department in a new and well equipped laboratory with automatic detection and counting equipment and also in any Department at the Hospital where radiochemistry is a problem. A full range of medium and long-lived radioisotopes, both beta and gamma emmitters 1* used. With the advent of scanning equipment a programme of radioisotopic labelling will be undertaken. Work in progress at the moment involves the application of liquid scintillation spectrometry to medical problems. The appointee will be given the opportunity to further the use and apnlication of radioisotopes in various departments at the Hospital and may be required, under direction, to assist in the training of student radiographers. The salary for the position will be within the scales £1065£1315 or £1370-£1520 per annum according to qualifications and experience. The actual scale and commencing rate will be subject to aproval by the Director-General of Health. Intending applicants should obtain a schedule of conditions of appointment from the Secretary.
