The men best qualified to assume these special responsibilities are those with some interest in agricultural chemicals who have a practical knowledge of agriculture combined with an understanding of the individual problems of farmers in varying circumstances, and an appreciation of trends, changes and economic influences affecting farming. They should also have sufficient technical training and ability to study information from overseas on new product applications and developments and to apply it as necessary in New Zealand. They should enjoy meeting and talking to people and have the capacity to organise field trials and market surveys, and to assist and encourage retail distributors and staff. The normal age range would be about 25-35. Men who can broaden their grasp of commercial activities and who can lead and guide others are in line for promotion to management positions.
