SANTOS TO WAIT

Title Fight Planned

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND.

The New Zealand champion, M. Santos, will wait to see the result of negotiations between the Wellington Boxing Association and the Empire light-weight champion, B. Grant (Jamaica) before having another fight. His manager, Mr R. A. Grimmer, said yesterday that although he was always getting offers from Melbourne, he could not space Santos’s fights until negotiations for the title fight had been completed. Grant’s handlers have turned down an offer of £l5OO from the Wellington association, which has increased its offer to £2OOO. Santos beat the American, V Baergar, at Wellington on Thursday night, and Baergar said that he was certain the New Zealander could reach the top in boxing.
