WELLINGTON, Sept. 8.
As a protection against foot-and-mouth disease, agriculture and Customs officials confiscated, fumigated and destroyed various articles from passengers who had arrived in the Rangitoto. All fruit was destroyed and untreated bongo drums and stuffed animals were fumigated. Several pairs of shoes were sterlised on board.
