Police Still Puzzled

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, Sept. 9

The riddle of the sunken car and human bones found off the Orakei wharf this week remained unsolved today as police searched through lists of persons missing between 1959 and 1963.

A feature which is puzzling investigators is the car battery which, according to code marks, was sold in August, 1961.

Senior-Sergeant B. T. N. Hutton, of the Wharf Police Station, said: “We have been told by the Auckland Harbour Board that the wharf was closed to vehicular traffic in September, 1960. It is quite a puzzle.”
