Planes Late
Because of bad weather at other airports, nine National Airways Corporation flights through Christchurch were late yesterday. A tenth was late because of a mechanical fault. This was a Viscount from Auckland which arrived two hours and a half late after being delayed for repairs to an electrical motor on a propeller and an engine cowling deicing circuit. The plane, due at Christchurch at 10.20 a.m., arrived at 12.50 p.m. Although flights kept reasonably to schedule during the morning, by afternoon most were up to two hours late. At 5 p.m. 10 airports were marginal, and four were closed. Christchurch Airport was not affected by the weather.
