Supreme Court JUDGMENT FOR £1267
Fire-Damage Claim Judgment for £1267 has been entered in the Supreme Court in favour of Joseph Charles Queen, a Christchurch motor engineer, against Stanley Ritchie Ambler, a caravan manufacturer, as the outcome of a suit in which the former sued the latter for damages arising from a fire which spread from Ambler’s premises. Mr Justice Wilson, after a hearing last October, found negligence on Ambler’s part in that in August, 1963, an oil heater had been knocked over in his Shortland street premises, causing a fire which spread into adjoining premises occupied by Queen. The judgment for £1267 was entered by consent of the parties, Mr C. B. Atkinson appearing for the plaintiff, Queen, and Mr A. Hearn for the defendant, Ambler.
