Bravest and Diacol. which are Ito run in the Okehu Hurdles and the Tally Ho Steeples respectively, also impressed. She was not extended. Bravest (Hannah) and Diacol (A. Lyndon) completed two rounds of pacework with half I a mile in 56sec, the final three I taking 41 2-ssbc. Nuihau (K. Fine Run By Cognac

•‘The Press" Special Service DUNEDIN. Cognac. Grey Flash and Resolute were three of the most impressive trialists for the Otago Hunt meeting to work at Wingatui yesterday morning. Overhead conditions were ideal after a frost, but the grass tracks were cutting out. Cognac, which was second to Cesare Borgia at Gore last week, reeled off five furlongs on the plough in Imin 5 3-ssec, the last three furlongs in 40 1-5 sec. He beat Majaba (S. B. Robertson) by three lengths. Grey Flash (S. B. Robertson) ran half a mile in 52 3-ssec. the last three furlongs in 40sec. Grey Flash has not raced since the Vincent meeting in January, but is well forward to resume in the Vauxhall Handicap. Resolute (J. L. Coulter) and El Tegrave <D. A. Adams) were on terms after half a mile in 52 4-ssec, the first furlong in 12 4-ssec. Third Chance, which has been scratched from the Taieri Hack Handicap and will start in the Trial Stakes No. 1, ran in from the half-mile in 53sec. Mighty Peak (G. O. Finn) and Awakiki (J. R. Dowling) ran half a mile in the inside grass in 55sec, the opening furlong in 13sec. Castle Gregory (R. McKissock), Disciple (J. R. Dowling), and Kumai <B. J. Anderton), were given an easy run in 57 sec. Combination (F. Austin) and Prestilite (S. B. Robertson) sprinted three furlongs along the back in 40sec. Glenmorven <P. J. Silver) worked well over half a mile in 54 l-ssec, the first two furlongs in 27sec.

Bellesse Fit

“The Press" Special Service INVERCARGILL. Bellesse, which is engaged in the Taieri Handicap at the Otago Hunt meeting tomorrow, worked impressively at Invercargill yesterday. She sprinted three furlongs alone in 38 2-ssec. the first two in 26sec. The course proper was open, but the track was greasy after a heavy frost. The trestles were 30ft out. Bellesse reappeared at Gore last week and finished fburth in the hack sprint. She appears to have improved with that race. If R. N. Marsh is not available to ride her M. J. Lawson will have the mount tomorrow. Chango did well to finish with Captain How r e at the end of five furlongs in Imin Bsec, the last half in 54 2-ssec. Bellbridge and Earl Howe were paired over five furlongs in Imin 7 2-ssec, the last half in 53 2-ssec. Bellbridge has developed into a grand type of four-year-old. He will make a fresh start in the Tally Ho Handicap and might make a forward showing. W. F. Ellis said yesterday that Proud Boy would not make the trip to Wingatui. He was an acceptor for the Taieri Handicap.
