Bomb Found In Sand

The back lawn of a house In Aranui was cordoned off by the police yesterday morning while a demolition expert examined a 3in mortar bomb found by children playing nearby. The bomb proved to be a practice one and was not dangerous. Two boys. Gary Elliott, aged nine, and his brother Warren, aged 12. took the bomb home to their mother. Mrs I. M. Elliott, of 82 Bickerton street. She told them to take it out of the house and leave it on the lawn. The police were called, and persons were prevented from entering the section until the bomb had been examined by Sergeant G. S. Black, of Burnham Military Camp.
