LICENSING AUTHORITY
“Correct Place Justice Dept.” (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, Aug. 31. Supporting a remit sponsored by Wellington, that the Transport Licensing Authorities be entirely divorced from the Transport Department, speakers maintained at the New Zealand Taxi Proprietors’ Federation’s conference today that the correct place for the Licensing Authority was in the Justice Department. Mr R. Hopkins said the present “intermarriage” left the position of the Licensing Authority and its work “open to suspicion.” The remit was carried.
