Ship’s Officer Lost
(N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) LONDON, Aug. 30. The chief officer of the 27,000-ton P. and 0.-Orient liner Oronsay, was lost overboard early today when the ship was arriving at the Greek island of Mytilence, the company reported in London. A P. and O. spokesman said that the chief officer, Gordon B. Whitehead, aged 38, was inspecting the gangway before passengers landed. Mr Whitehead, who had been with the line since 1954, was married with four children—a girl aged 14, twins aged 11 and a girl aged five. He lived at Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England.
