Facilities At Mt Cook
The Hermitage lost £36,000 last year, even with a 75 per cent occupancy, said Mr S. Andrews at the monthly meeting of the Canterbury Progress League last evening. The only way accommodation could be made to pay at Mount Cook, he said, would be to provide ancillary facilities to guarantee a fuller flow of visitors, especially in the ironically slack winter, when occupancy fell to about 40 per cent. The league decided to support in principle the construction of an aerial cableway in the Mount Cook area.
