Pensions

Sir, —Last week my wife and I collected our pension, due on August 2; also a voucher for back pay and payment in advance for a total of 16 weeks. This extra backdates the pension to May at 10 guineas a week. We both greatly appreciate this substantial increase, and to our worthy Prime Minister and his colleagues who have made this possible we say a great big thank-you. W e will collect the next instalment of pension before the week-end and will then have at least £65 to bank. Incidentally, the pension now, for a married couple, is more than what I was earning in wages when the National Party came into power in 1949. God bless them!—Yours, etc., WELL SATISFIED. August 31, 1966.
