Disturbance In Gaol
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 31. Several cell windows were broken during a disturbance which broke out in the women's section of the Auckland Prison early this evening. The disturbance started about 6.20 p.m., but ended after the gaol superintendent, Mr E. G. Buckley, spoke to the women. About nine inmates were involved. The section holds 14 women serving short sentences. The noise—singing, shouting and banging on cell doors —went on for half an hour until Mr Buckley arrived with the matron, Mrs G. Powell.
