Eruption Not Significant
(N.Z. Prill Ann.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Aug. 29.
The Esso-BHP well, Marlin 81, offshore from the Gippsland coast of Victoria—would not be back in operating order for a considerable time, the participating companies said in a report to the Stock Exchange today. No significance could be attached at this stage to the gas leak which caused a surface eruption of gas and mud during the week-end, the report said.
BHP shares have been speculated up in recent weeks as the Marlin Bl neared completion and testing was imminent
