PRICE OVERLOOKED FOR JUNIORS GAME
(From I. J. D. HALL)
WELLINGTON.
The Lions replacement full-back, T. Price, who has played only twice in the four weeks he has been in New Zealand has again been overlooked in team selection.
The England centre, M. P. Weston, has been named as full-back in the Lions team to play the New Zealand Juniors at Wellington tomorrow.
The Lions coach, Mr J. D. Robins, said Price was suffering from a swollen knee and was therefore not considered. Otherwise, the team is much as expected, with only three of the test players. C. M. H. Gibson, A. E. I. Pask and M. J. Campbell-Lamerton included. The team is: Weston: K. F. Savage, F. P. K. Bresnihan, D. K. Jones; A. J. Hinshelwood, Gibson; R. Young; Pask. Campbell-Lamerton, B. Price, G. J. Prothero: D. H. Williams, K. Kennedy, R. J. McLoughlin. Prothero will have only his seventh game in New Zealand. He had to pass a fitness test at training yesterday afternoon.
The injuries position of the Lions is that D. Watkins expects to be fit within a week but N. A. A. Murphy and C. H. Norris may not be available for the last three matches after the Juniors game. D. Grant, who has a groin injury and has not played much in recent weeks,
is another who may not be able to play again. There is not a great deal of interest in the match at Wellington and many stand seats are unsold. The bit terly cold weather here at present would not encourage a visit to Athletic Park on Wednesday.
D. R. Panther, the New Zealand Juniors wing who was injured in the match between Taranaki and North Auckland on Saturday was replaced by O. G. Stephens (Bay of Plenty) on the wing for the Juniors match against Marlborough yesterday but still may play tomorrow.
