Hawke’s Bay Wins Five Junior Titles

The Hawke’s Bay contingent was the most successful in the New Zealand junior boxing championships, winning five titles.
One of the group, R. Gallagher. was awarded the trophy for the most scientific boxer. The most impressive fighter in the tournament was E. Manuello (Auckland), who showed all the agressive style of a professional fighter in winning the lost 111 b to list class. Results of the finals were:
Sst to sst 51b Class: R. Gallagher (Hawke's Bay) beat D. Rackley (Nelson) on points. sst 51b to sst 101 b Class: ’T. Bell (Manawatu) beat W. Taylor (Oamaru) on points. Sst 101 b to Ost lib Class: T. Lyons (Central Hawke’s Bay) beat J. Monegetti (Auckland) on points. fist lib to fist 61b Class: J. Rackley (Nelson) beat N. Nicol (Manawatu) when the fight was stopped at the end of the second round due to Nicol having a cut eye. fist 61b to fist 111 b Class: K. Williams (Oamaru) beat J. Moloy (Rotorua) on points, fist 111 b to 7st 21b Class: C. Rolls (Manawatu) beat W. Wilson (Canterbury) on points.
7st 21b to 7st 71b Class: P. Ryan (New Plymouth) beat T. Cardwell (Auckland) in a split decision. 7st 71b to 7st 121 b Class: R. Gallagher (Hawke’s Bay) beat C. Watt (Moamaru) on points. 7st 121 b to Sst 31b Class: J. Augustine (Hawke’s Bay) beat M. Joyce (Canterbury) tn a split decision. Sst 31b to Bst Sib Class: N. Aitken (Hawke’s Bay) beat J. Snook (Hawke’s Bay) on points. Bst 81b to fist Class: J. Grant (Gisborne) beat N. Jones (Gisborne) on points. fist to fist 61b Class: A. Kettle
(Eltham) beat M. McKinnon <Manawatu) on points. 9st 61b to lost Clasts: B. Ford (Timaru) beat H. Vette .(Gisborne) on points. lOst 61b to list Class: E. Manuello (Auckland) beat R. Keil (Rotorua) on points.
