K. Rowe (Nelson) won the Marlborough 50-mlle cycling championship at Blenheim on Saturday. Staring off 7min he had a clear lead over R. Young (West Coast), who came second. G. Paynter (Marlborough) was third. T. Snedden (Marlborough), starting from scratch, returned the fastest time of 2hr 7min 59.55ec. There were 30 entries from Nelson, Wellington, Christchurch, Greymouth, Westport, and Marlborough. Results:— Rowe 1, Young (12imin) 2, Paynter (7min) 3, A. Geddes (Marlborough, 7min) 4, I. Ross (Marlborough, 7mln) 5. G. Howes (Timaru), off 4min, won. the colts’ 10-mile cycling championship, with R. Shaw (Nelson) second and N. Geddes (Marlborough) third.
The fastest time of 25mln 10 sec was returned by P. Brydon (Marlborough). Marlborough sports results were:—
