Taranaki At Its Best

The Taranaki Rugby team played its best game of the season when it beat North Auckland by 12 points to 3 at New Plymouth on Saturday. The Taranaki forwards during the second spell were in devastating form and dominated the possession.

Taare, D. Walker; penalties, Pakurangi (3).

Manawatu B was much too strong and beat Bush B 39-6 at Palmerston North. The half-time score was 20-3.

For Manawatu tries were scored by M. O'Callaghan (4), D. Brown (2), D. Berg (2), J. Carroll (2). R. Pratt. J. Thompson kicked two conversions and R. Pratt kicked one conversion. For Bush A. Gibbs scored a try and R. Burmister kicked a penalty. In wet, muddy conditions at Masterton, Wellington Colts beat Walrarapa B 23-5. The half-time score was 9-0.

Wellington's-points came from tries by W. Trotter <2), B. Teen, W Nicholls, S. Letica, P. Burge and R Steele. For Wairarapa I. Stringfellow scored a try which B. Payton converted.

The Taranaki Colts beat the touring Colden Bay-Motueka Colts by 11 points to 3 at New Plymouth on Saturday. The Taranaki team was generally too strong.
