Potter At Work
A potter, bent over her wheel, aroused considerable interest at the Industries Fair yesterday afternoon. Observers were presented with “the story of a pot”— beginning with the damp clay in plastic bags, which was thrown on the wheel into a recognisable shape and then baked in a kiln nearby. All sorts of questions were pu‘. to the potter. How do you make a spout for the teapot? What do you use for glue? What about holes for the tea to come through? She explained that spouts were just thrown like miniature pots and the holes were made before the clay hardened. Potters will work at the wheel from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
