Car Rolls; Man Dies

Tw o men died during the week-end in accidents in which cars left the road, the Press Association reports. A man died and another was seriously hurt when a car out of control plunged over a bank at Dairy Flat, north of Albany, about 5 p.m. on Saturday. The dead man was Victor Alban Sisson, aged 21,

of 14 Ponsonby terrace, Ponsonby, driver of the car. Gregory Lancaster, aged 20, of 8 Clifford street, Mt. Roskill, was in a serious condition at Middlemore Hospital last night with chest injuries and multiple fractures. Kevin Victor Austin, aged 19, of 62 Kinross street, Blockhouse Bay, suffered a fractured collarbone. He was treated at North Shore Hospital before being discharged.

The police said the car was out of control for about 350 yards and rolled several times. It crashed through a fence into a paddock. Crashed On Line One man was killed and another injured when a car left the Hutt road and crashed on to the railway line about '4 30 a.m. on Saturday. Unconscious An 18-year-old motorcyclist, Albert Toura, of 35 Kawakawa street, Wanganui east was dangerously ill in the Wanganui General Hospital last night after being seriously injured in an accident at Dublin street bridge roundabout at 7.20 p.m. on Saturday. Mr Toura is unconscious. He has head injuries, facial lacerations and a fractured cheek bone. Sidney Puketapu, aged 17, Of 74 Moana street a pillion passenger, was also admitted to hospital with head injuries. His condition was reported to be satisfactory. Head Injuries The rider of a motor-cycle suffered severe head injuries in a collision with a car near the Ministry of Works depot in Greymouth about 1.15 p.m. yesterday. He is Peter Wayne Hansen, aged 18, of 24 Murray street, Greymouth. He was admitted to the Grey Hospital, where his condition last evening was reported to be serious. His pillion passenger, Carla Maitland, aged 15, of Hokitika, was also admitted to the hospital suffering head injuries and lacerations. Her condition was reported to be satisfactory. The car was driven by William Anthony Downing, of 36 Firth street, Cobden. Flown To Hospital A 21-year-old Eltliam man, David Joseph Anderson, suffered serious injuries when the car in which he was a passenger collided with a tanker on the main highway at Te Roti five miles north of Hawera about noon on Saturday. He was admitted to the Hawera Hospital, where he underwent surgery on Saturday night. He was flown to Palmerston North by a New Plymouth Aero Club aircraft this afternoon and admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital’s intensive care ward. The hospital said tonight that his condition was fairly comfortable.
