Doctors’ Decision
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. Aug. 21 About 20 young doctors at Newcastle-upon-Tyne General Hospital have given notice that as from September 1 they will work to rule because of dissatisfaction with Britain’s pay freeze.
A spokesman said that they would do a full week’s work but would not undertake additional duties.
The hospital, one of the biggest on Tyneside, is the regional centre for the treatment of neuro-surgical emergency cases A spokesman for the hospital management committee said the doctors’ decision had clearly been made before the last statement of the Minister of Health, Mr Robinson, about reliefs being provided in cases of financial difficulties.
