r pH!S season has been a A notable one for records by first-class Rugby players and foremost among these is the reliable Nelson full-back, M. J. Delany. A regular member of his union’s teams since 1958. Delany has now passed 500 points both in all first-class matches and in games for Nelson only. His complete total of 561 is a record for a representative of a “minoF’ union and he and A. H. A. Smith (Mid-Canter-bury) have become the first players from a small union to reach 500 for that union only. Delany’s total is 507 and Smith’s 502; Smith has scored 529 points in all matches. Both players have also now kicked more than

100 penalty goals, a distinc- 1 tion hitherto reserved only 1 for D. B. Clarke. Other players have achieved personal milestones. M. W. Williment (Wellington), aS well as attaining 600 points for his union—only Clarke and S. ■ K. Henderson (Canterbury) I have done likewise—on 1 Tuesday completed 900 points in all first-class Rugby. He is certain to pass R. A. Jarden’s 945 and then only Clarke (1810) stands before him. W. F. McCormick (Canterbury) and I. N. McEwan (Wellington), for two, have now played 100 games for their unions, while McCormick has passed 500 firstclass points. However, the most notable achievement of all is ■ probably K. R. Tremain's | 100 tries, the first forward s to reach this milestone.
