Expression Of Ideals
T7VERY human being has a conception of himself which binds his decisions and experiences together into one life. He has not only an actual self, but also an ideal self, and much of his effort is an attempt to establish a connexion between them. What is true of individuals is also true of the societies into which individuals are organised. Societies present ideals to themselves, to their members, and these ideals find their clearest expression in the writings of political philosophers.—Jerry Cohen, a Canadian lecture’ in philosophy at University College, London.
