U.K. Export Talks

The executive secretary of the Committee for Exports to New Zealand (Mr J. S. Porter) will arrive in Wellington tomorrow to confer with members of the New Zealand British Trade Committee and examine various aspects of trade between the two countries. He will be in Christchurch from August 29 to 31. Mr Porter will spend a week in Wellington meeting various organisations and visiting firms associated with British exporters. His committee is part of the British National Export Council and is headed by Mr A. Ross, formerly deputy governor of the Reserve Bank. Its main objectives are to encourage and assist British firms to expand their exports to New Zealand and the south Pacific islands and to seek new openings for the sale of British goods and services in these areas. The New Zealand British Trade Committee, of which Mr G. Stewart is chairman, was established some months ago to help the British committee in its efforts to increase British exports to this country.
