RICCARTON BOWLS WIN
The Riccarton Workingmen’s Club pair, E. Bell (skip) and J. Bennett (lead), won the final of the monthly pairs tournament conducted by the Burwood Indoor Bowls Club. In the final they defeated A. Millar (skip) ■nd Mrs B. Millar (lead) (Unwood Avenue), 7-6, in an even and closely contested game, all players drawing with fine touch to a continuing altered head. Of the 50 teams competing 19 qualified for post-section play. Results:—
Quarter-finals.— N. Smith 8, E. Bell 6; I. Kaye 7, R. Williams 6; A. Millar 12, R. Mclntyre 4; Mrs J. Steele 15, J. Woods 8.
Semi-finals.—Bell 8. Kaye 7 Millar 18, Mrs Steele 5.
