NURSE USES JIGGER
Car Request Supported (N.Z. Press Association) HOKITIKA, Aug. 18. The Health Department supplied the district nurse at Otira with a sou’-wester, oilskin and leggings to use on a railway jigger when she made calls outside the settlement on the Midland line. Mrs M. Bryant told a meeting of the Westland Hospital Board. Mrs Bryant said that in the last 30 years the department had made no progress in providing transport for the nurse. "It appears she is lucky to get that. The whole system seems so archaic,” she said. The board agreed to support a request from the people of Otira to the department for a par for the nurse.
