Britain Makes Three Changes For Test

(New Zealand Press Association)

AUCKLAND.

A right knee injury will prevent A. Hardisty, the British Rugby League stand-off half, playing in the second test against New Zealand at Carlaw Park, Auckland, tomorrow.

The replacement of Hardisty with W. R. Aspinall—who will be making his first appearance in a test match—is one of three changes made to the British team from that which defeated the Kiwis, 28-5, on August 6. Hardisty left the field with leg injuries in the first test and again against West Coast at Greymouth. The other newcomers are the hooker, P. J. Flanagan, and the centre, F. Myler. Myler came on as a replacement for Hardisty in the first test and has come into the team because of the suspension of A. Buckley. Flanagan was selected for the first test but was replaced by C. Clarke when Flanagan was found to be still suffering the effects of blurred vision received in Australia. One positional change is the moving of G. W. Wrigglesworth from wing to centre and the moving of I. Brooke

to the wing. Wrigglesworth scored three tries against Canterbury as a centre and made two others for the wing, T. B. Jones. The full-back, J. K. Gowers, will make his first appearance since the first test when he suffered a shoulder injury. The British team is:— Gowers; Brooke, Wrigglesworth, Myler, W. Burgess; Aspinall, T. Bishop; D. Robinson; H. Poole (captain), W. Ramsey; K. Roberts, Flanagan, C. H. Watson.

The reserves are C. Dooler and T. H. Fogerty. The Kiwis completed their training yesterday when they held two practices at Cornwall Park. Mr D. L. Blanchard. the coach, stressed that the home team had been working to combat the marked superiority of speed shown by the touring forwards in the first test. The team was also heartened by the goal-kicking of E. Wiggs, who comes into the Kiwi forwards for the test.
