RACING DRIVER KILLED

f.V Z.P.A. -Reuter) RIVERSIDE. (California). The British racing driver, K. Miles, died instantly yesterday when his car went out of control in a practice run at the Riverside race track. The car ran off the course on a bend, overturned, and burst into flames. Miles, aged 47, was thrown clear. Officials said that he died immediately of multiple injuries. The car he was testing was the secret Ford Formula J prototype which has not been entered in a race yet

Miles, who started racing motor-cycles in England in 1938, has had a successful racing career in the United States since he went there in 1951.

Teamed with L. Ruby, he won the 24-hour endurance race at Daytona Beach this year, and followed it with a victory at the 12-hour endurance test at Sebring.

He led for most of the 24hour race this year at Le Mans, and originally was declared the winner, but later was relegated to second place on a technicality.
