LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

(1) Letters sent to the Editor for printing should preferably be typed, otherwise they must be written in ink on one side of the paper only. A legible signature and full address are required whether these are to be published or not. A P.O. box number is not a sufficient address. (2) Writers must say clearly whether or not their letters are being or have been sent to other papers. (3) The Editor cannot return or keep any letter which for any reason is unsuitable for printing; nor can he acknowledge unsuitable letters although this will be done where it seems to be needful, or enter into any correspondence. (4) Letters must not be of more than 150 words.

Regular Attender.—Address inadequate.

Old-Timer.—We see no reason to reopen the recent correspondence on rates. L. R. de Roo.—The reference, no doubt, was to the number of King Country players in the Combined team. Percy L. McMillan.—The subject is still open and our only bias is in favour of discussing facts rather than personalities. J. —Difficult to discuss without comparing the academic and other qualifications of those concerned, which would be invidious.

T. E. Shaw. —Your view is shared by some power sup* ply authorities, but disputed by others. A compromise has been reached and it is expected that there will be news soon of a two-part tariff. However, there is no “free” power for waterheating or any other power use.
