£60,000 BID REFUSED
City Property Auctioned
A company property in Christchurch was passed in at £60,000 —£20,000 more than its Government valuation—when offered at public auction yesterday. Owned by the Canterbury (N.Z.) Seed Company, Ltd., the property comprises a twostorey brick building of 5500 square feet on 16 perches at 208 Cashel street; a two-storey brick building of 4500 square feet on eight perches at 19 Bedford row; and a singlestorey brick building of 2000 square feet on eight perches at 21 Bedford row. The rentals of the Bedford row buildings amount to £1570 a year.
The Government valuation of the property is £40,100. The opening bid was £55,000. There were five bids of £lOOO. The auctioneer was Mr N. H. McCrostie.
