N.A.C. Appoints District Senior Pilot

Captain N. D. Freeman has been appointed district senior pilot in Christchurch of the National Airways Corporation. Captain Freeman joined N.A.C. in 1947. He had a distinguished war-time career, was awarded the D.F.C. and was mentioned in dispatches. In 1941 he joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force and was seconded to the Royal Air Force. Captain Freeman

flew on tours of duty in the Middle East and completed 70 bombing missions over Europe. After the war he continued to serve with the R.A.F. on troop-carrying duties between Britain and India. Captain Freeman was also part of a nucleus of R.A.F. pilots who flew scheduled services to European capitals. The services were later taken over by the British European Airways.
