Leaving Dry Dock
(N.Z. Press Association)
DUNEDIN, August 15. The Japanese freighter Matsumoto Maru will be out of Port Chalmers dry dock tomorrow on completion of temporary repairs to the ship's hull. The two-year-old 8132-ton ship was damaged when she ran aground at Bluff, and surveyors ordered her into dry dock at Port Chalmers for inspection. It was found that the double bottom outer skin was damaged near two ballast tanks.
The ship went into dry dock on Thursday, and external repairs are expected to be completed tomorrow. She will then be shifted to the George street pier for internal repairs before leaving for Japanese yards for permanent repair. Internal repairs are expected to take about five days.
