WRONG MAN?

(.V.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The Wellington Rugby League representative winger. R. N. G. Wood, said yesterday he thought the wrong man had been ordered off in Britain's match with the province last week.

Britain's first test centre, A. Buckley, was sent off by the referee, Mr E. Pilcher, after Wood had been knocked out when he did not have the ball.

‘Tm pretty sure another player did it” Wood said yesterday. “There was another player coming straight for me. There was no sign of Buckley—l think the

the wrong man was put off.

“No-one called on me for evidence after the match. I think they should have come and asked me.”

Wellington’s test hooker. C. E. O’Neil, said yesterday he did not see what happened to Wood. “But the general feeling among Wellington players was that it wasn't Buckley,” O’Neil said. Mr Pilcher said yesterday: “Buckley admitted that it was he who stiffarmed Wood-" Buckley has been suspended by the New Zealand Rugby League till after the second test this Saturday.
