M. Rudolph beat J. Nicklaus by one stroke on Sunday to win the 100,000 dollars Thunderbird golf classic. The 32-year-old Rudolph trailed most of the day, but he caught Nicklaus at the 14th hole and went ahead to finish with a 10-under-par 69. 70, 70, 69—278. ‘ His prize was a cheque for 20.000 dollars and a Ford Thunderbird car; R. J. Charles tied with two others for a ninth place 75. 68. 71, 74—258 and won 966 dollars.
