GARAGE NOT ALLOWED

Town Planning c Decisions

A proposal to establish a garage and service station at the corner of Wairakei and Jeffreys roads was disallowed by the City Council last evening. The town planning committee said it was a wellestablished town planning principle that service stations which, from the nature of their operations, tended to create traffic hazards when sited on main highways should be avoided wherever possible The council approved a departure from the district plan ning scheme to allow a garage and service station on the corner of Milton and Selwyn streets.

It also approved the erec tion of a bulking yarn and knitting factory on land off Bickerton street and an ex tension to a laundry in Stevens street.
