Timber-Grading Course
A course in radiata pine grading is to be held in Timaru on August 19 and 20 by the Forest Service at the request of the South Canterbury Master Builders’ Association. The course will comprise lectures and demonstrations covering an introduction to grading, defects in radiata pine and their measurement, and grading rules for board and framing. The lecturers will be a forest service officer from head office in Wellington and the timber officer from Christchurch (Mr N. C. Clifton). An open meeting will be held in the Red Cross Hall, Timaru, on August 20, at which the officers will answer questions in an open forum on timber usage generally. The other sections of the course will be held in the Washdyke Community Hall and the Wilson Brothers’ Sawmill.
