N.Z. MEAT IN JAPAN
Sales Doubled In 4 Years t.V.Z. Press Association! WELLINGTON, Aug. 10 Demand for New Zealand meat in Japan is growing fast. j says the annual report of the Meat Board. The board spent nearly £500;000 last year promoting meat overseas. The biggest effort was tn Britain, still by far the best. customer for New Zealand meat. Meat exports to Japan had almost doubled in four years, from £2.5 million to £4.8 mil-! lion. In Canada, promotion was having “continued success."! Half the lamb eaten there came from New Zealand. Booklets in five languages had been distributed to several Asian countries. Special emphasis was put on the high quality air-freigh-ted beef now available to Eastern and Pacific buyers. Experimental television and in-store programmes intro- j duced in Japan two years ago were followed by a visit to I New Zealand by members of i the National Young Retail' Butchers’ Organisation, to’ study l«mb production. i
