FIRE BOARD SEAT
Report Oil Absence Mr W. E. Cassidy, a former , member of the Waimairi ( County Council who now lives iin Seddon. remained a memI ber of the Christchurch Metro- ‘ politan Fire Board representing the local bodies outside the city, the board was told I last evening. Mr Cassidy had •to resign personally. However, as Mr Cassidy had been absent without leave from two consecutive board meetings, the chairman (Mr W. R. Campbell) said he was obliged to report this to the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Seath). The next step was probably for the Minister to declare a vacancy and the local bodies to elect a successor. Mr Cassidy had been away I for two consecutive meetings in the past, but no action had I been taken. Mr Campbell; said. He had been written to! with a request for his resigna-; t’on. but no reply had been! received.
