Milk Board Election
“It's a foregone conclusion,” said the clerk (Mr A. Kelly) when he explained to the Paparua County Council voting procedure in an election to fill a vacancy on the Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Board. The vacancy, caused by the resignation of Cr. W. E. Cassidy, of Waimairi County, is contested by Crs. J. U. Barclay (Paparua), R. C. Kimber (Eyre County), and A. C. Rhodes (Waimairi). Voting was by the councils concerned, Waimairi, Paparua, Eyre, Halswell and Heathcote counties and Riccarton borough on the basis of one vote for 1000 population, said Mr Kelly. Waimairi had 53 of the 96 votes possible. The council decided to cast it* 19 votes for Cr. Barclay.
