HELP FOR APPEAL

Cerebral Palsy Society Lack of members might restrict a street appeal to be held on October 21 by the Adult Cerebral Palsy Society, but an effort would be made to man busy corners in the city, said the society’s chairman (Mr M. A. Connelly, M.P.), at a meeting this week. The society will have its usual stall in Cathedral square on the same day and this year the City Council has given permission for a street appeal to be made.

Mr Connelly said there were not enough members in the society to man a street appeal, but the society could not reject such an opportunity to earn money, as tenders had been called for extensions to the society’s house in Bristol street.

The society would attempt to get as much support as possible from organisations and individuals for the appeal, and even 20 persons able to do two hours each would be worth-while, said Mr Connelly. Any one able to help should get in touch with the secretary, Mrs C, G. Crawford, 5 Titoki street, Riccarton, telephone, 45-740. The house at Bristol street will be used for a pilot scheme run in co-operation with the Health Department and the Disabled Servicemen’s Rehabilitation League for the rehabilitation and return to civilian life of certain patients at present at Templeton Hospital. Ten persons at a time will be accommodated.
