(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A ■) KINGSTON. New Zealand will continue its quest for medals today (Tuesday, Jamaica). With no athletics events scheduled, the main interest will switch to the swimming, where there are three finals involving New Zealanders, and weight-lifting, in which the team captain, D. B. Oliver, will be contesting the heavy-weight division.
There are also New Zealanders competing in cycling, badminton, fencing and boxing. New Zealand swimmers, with a silver and bronze medal already stacked away, will be anxious to add to their laurels. Shannos, who beat Oliver in Perth, is back again and these two should have another close contest. L. R. Mills, also entered for the heavy-weight weight-lift-ing, will probably withdraw after suffering a leg injury in the discus, so as not to jeopardise his chances in the shot. W. Kini, the veteran heavy-weight boxer, will have his first fight and he looks a medal prospect. There are only seven boxers in this [class. Only two New Zealand cyclists will be competing in the track cycling—D. Comparini and G. Wright—who are both in the 1000 metres time trial. At the fencing, R. Binning. K. Mann and R. Peterson will be in the men’s individual epee, while the women’s foil team will be in action. In the badminton. Misses A, Glenie and G. Simpson will play-off for the bronze medal in the women's doubles.
