Young, of Auckland, has turned down a £4OOO offer for him! to compete in a three-day run I across Death Valley in the (United States. ■ However, he plans to start a , 3500-raile run from Brisbane to Perth, within the next two I months. An Auckland businessman; offered him £4OOO if he would run the 150 miles across | Death Valley in three days,! but if he did not complete the; distance in three days, he ! would receive only £4OO plusj expenses. Young said he was waiting! for news from Australia on I financing his Australian pro-: ject. which he would do as an amateur. Ocean Vacht Race.— The Akaroa Cruising Club's ocean yacht race from Pigeon Bay to ilotunau and back, which was to have been held in November this year, has been postponed. The Banks Peninsula Cruising Club will be holding a similar race at this time. 1
