Winter Cup Preparation

Mukupai completed his North Island preparation for the Winter Cup, with a sound six furlongs trial at Levin yesterday. Work was done 20 feet out on the course proper, which was firm.
Mukupai (W. D. Skelton) and Garnishee (K. A. Aitken) covered six furlongs In Imin 17sec, with Mukupai showing his superiority over the final stages and galloping three lengths tn frent. Mukupai is in fine heart to contest the big mile at Riccarton and it will surprise if he does not perform well in that event.
Mammoth (K. A. Aitken) was hard-held to stay with French Count (W. D. Skelton) over half a mile in SUsec, the final three furlongs in 39 3-5.
