Conference On Lawns

A one-day conference on “Lawns —Their Establishment and Maintenance,” will be held in the Horticultural Hall, Cambridge terrace on Wednesday, August 3. There will be two sessions, the first one from 9 a.m. to noon, the second from 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. It has been organised by the Canterbury District Council of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. All interested in gardening are invited to attend.

This is the seventh of a series of conferences so organised by the council for the general instruction of home gardeners. It will follow the usual pattern of a number of addresses by various authorities, which have in the past been of a most practical nature. Frequent use will be made of exhibits, stage demonstrations, arid illustrations. There will be a question period.

Previous conferences have covered such subjects as fruit, vegetables, trees and shrubs. An admission fee of 7s 6d will be made to all institute members. The charge to nonmembers will be 10s, with considerable family reductions. Admission charges enable attendance for the entire day and include a copy of the proceedings. Extra copies will be on sale at 5s each.
