SYDNEY The market gained ground slightly on the Sydney Stock Exchange yesterday. Mining stocks were a shade firmer. In the oil section Woodside (Lakes Ent.) was well traded. MELBOURNE Industrials were firmer with mostly small movement on the Melbourne Stock Exchange yesterday. B.H.P, gained with 12 cents to 640. Oil shares were keenly sought. Esso Exploration denied rumours of another oil strike in Bass Strait, saying the floating rig is shut down because of storms. Base metals were Irregular.
